Sveinn Birkir's Project 1976

From the blog: Some posts on this blog are tagged with '1976' - the year I was born. The idea is that in time, these posts will pile up and establish an audio/visual anthology of sorts for the year 1976.

Bug Guide

I found this site when I was trying to find out how to keep the grasshoppers from eating all my plants. It pretty neat, you can look up any bug. There's even a Bug ID feature on the site that allows you to post a photo and have them tell you what the bug is.

Rental Car Rally

from the site: RCR 2009 SF2Yuma is a single leg competitive road trip starting in San Francisco and ending in Yuma, AZ. There is no set route, but each team must hit pre-defined checkpoints, the locations of which will be provided in the rally booklet given to each team at the starting line. Each team must provide photographic evidence of each checkpoint. No photos = disqualification. Each team is scored by a combination of odometer reading, team style, and hijinks (details below).

Travel Planner Site

This site, NileGuide looks like it might be cool if they can get the data into that they need. I know it's still in Beta, but there is no way to plan a trip for a destination that isn't already in the site. and I couldn't find any way to add destinations or places to visit. If they could partner with a review site like Yelp this would be AWESOME!

Talking First Aid Kits

These are kind pricey at $130, but pretty awesome, organized by injury type, this kits provides instructions verbally (keeping your hands free) to anyone who might need to administer first aid. I know I'd appreciate having one of these around our office, because I don't know if anyone here has taken a first aid class...somehow I doubt it.

From the site:
The kit is separated into individually labeled and color-coded injury packs so the user has all the supplies and easy to follow instructions for managing a specific injury. The audio module in each injury card takes the technology a step further. By the squeeze of a button, the module narrates step-by-step instructions to manage the injury, pausing and repeating when necessary for accurate response.
