How to make your own flour:
a post from thecompact@yahoogroups.com by Amanda (the authors blog: http://www.hippiemommy.com/ )
http://waltonfeed.com/hand.html
"As far as making your own flour. It tastes amazing! You won't believe the difference! Whole wheat flour goes rancid within 72 hours of being milled. It is often rancid at the store, and the taste of fresh flour is just so... fresh =P It also has a lot more vitamins and protein than the stuff in the store. I buy my wheat berries in bulk at the health food store. You can buy an electric wheat grinder for a couple of hundred dollars. They are almost impossible to find used. I bought my hand grinder off of ebay a few years ago, and I use it almost every day. I paid $30 for it. I can make about a cup of flour per minute, and it is easy enough that my 3 and 5 year olds can turn it, but not for more than a minute or two. Here is the one I have:http://waltonfeed.com/hand.htmlIf you have a coffee grinder, I've heard that you can use them for small amounts of flour. :)-Amanda"

FLOUR POWER: A guide to modern home grain millingby Marleeta F. Basey
Looking for a whole-grain health bonanza with just a few minutes of kitchen time? Read Flour Power by Marletta F. Basey. Modern flour mills and bread machines turn breadmaking into a task no more complicated, nor expensive, than grinding beans and brewing coffee. Flour Power tells you how to compare, locate and buy one of the dozens of different mills on the market, how to buy the “right” wheat and how to make delicious, light wholemeal loaves – every time.
